About us

Clark High School has the biggest high school orchestra program in Nevada, featuring the highest number of student participants in the state. Our community truly appreciates the arts, seeing them as an essential part of a complete education. The Fine Arts Department encourages every student at Clark High to take at least one fine arts class throughout their time here. Our orchestra has a strong track record at CCSD festivals, consistently receiving Superior ratings for our performances.

Currently, the Clark High School Orchestra program includes over 300 students and offers nine orchestra classes at five different levels: Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic Strings, Concert Strings, and Sonata Strings. Our orchestra classes meet every day, balancing full ensembles with smaller group sessions that concentrate on specific instruments.

Our History

The orchestra has won numerous awards and accolades at festivals locally and nationally. Many community organizations call on the Clark Orchestra to perform at functions throughout the Las Vegas valley. The orchestra has performed at Carnegie Hall with the Clark High School Band in both 2008, 2012, 2019, and in spring of 2023. In 2015, the Clark Orchestra won the Grand National Championship at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival in Salt Lake City, UT.

     The orchestra also made two appearances at the prestigious Midwest Clinic, an International Band and Orchestra Conference held annually in December. To perform orchestras must complete a competitive audition process. Clark Orchestra was selected and performed in both 2016 and 2019. 

​     Clark Orchestra alumni have attended or currently attend such prestigious universities as the Julliard School of Music, Brown, Harvard, Yale, Rice, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Northwestern and many more colleges and universities. Clark Orchestra students are valedictorians, salutatorians and club presidents. They are involved in every athletic team and are active with the Clark NJROTC program.

​     The Clark High School Orchestra emphasizes the importance of commitment and rigor while encouraging humanistic ideals. Our orchestra is a musical family dedicated to creating life-long relationships between students and education.
